Introduction: Emotion management training, as one of the effective psychological interventions, can help improve psychological well-being and increase mental vitality by strengthening individuals' ability to identify, understand, and regulate emotions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotion management training on mental vitality in married students.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental (pre-test-post-test with control group). The statistical population of the study included all married students of Garmsar Azad University in 1402, which numbered 1854 people. In this study, 30 people (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group) were randomly assigned using a purposeful accessible method. Ryan and Frederick's (1997) mental vitality scale was used to collect data, and the emotion regulation package based on Gross's (2007) perspective was used to train emotion regulation. The analysis of covariance test was used in SPSS software to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that after controlling for pre-test scores, emotion management training significantly increased mental vitality in married students in the experimental group compared to the control group (p≤0.05).
Conclusion: It can be concluded that emotion management training increases the mental vitality of married students and can be used as an effective intervention in promoting their mental health in university counseling centers.
