Introduction: Happiness is considered one of the most important indicators of mental health and plays a fundamental role in students' well-being and academic performance. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between happiness, hope for life, and subjective well-being among students.
Methods: This applied research employed a descriptive-correlational survey design. The statistical population consisted of 641 female secondary school students in Garmsar during the 2023–2024 academic year. Based on Cochran’s formula, 240 participants were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Lenz Happiness Questionnaire (2009), Miller Hope Scale (1988), and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ) developed by Hill and Argyle (2002). Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analysis in SPSS version 26.
Results: The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between happiness and hope for life at the 0.01 significance level, as well as a significant positive relationship between happiness and subjective well-being at the 0.05 significance level. Hope for life and subjective well-being accounted for 23% and 25% of the variance in happiness, respectively
Conclusion: The results indicated that students with higher levels of hope for life and subjective well-being experienced greater happiness. Therefore, implementing educational and psychological interventions aimed at enhancing hope for the future and promoting well-being may contribute to improving students’ happiness and overall mental health.
