Abstract
Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death and disability in the world. According to the World Health Organization by 2020 the morbidity of these diseases in women and men respectively increase by 120 and 137 percent. More than 50% of the factors affecting heart disease are mental factors. On the other hand, these factors can have a detrimental effect on patients hope. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the hope of cardiovascular patients, was conducted using face to face training.
Materials and Methods: This study was a comparative and quasi-experimental study. Individuals selected by convenience sampling and a total of 50 patients were enrolled. Data were collected using Schneider Hope Questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS 16 software using t-test, regression and chi-square tests.
Results: Mean and standard deviation of participants before and after training were 37.36 ± 10.22 and 45.94 ± 7.87, respectively. After analyzing the data, a statistically significant difference between the scores of hopeful patients before and after training was observed (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Face-to-face training by a nurse can increase hope in cardiovascular patients. Therefore, this intervention can be used to promote life expectancy in people with cardiovascular diseases.
