HIV-TB co-infection is a major public health threat. HIV complicates every aspect of TB including presentation.
The aim of this study was the assessment of some epidemiologic factors HIV-TB co-infection in patients referred to the infection- behavioral disorders center of Mashhad (2002-2012)
Materials and Methods:
In this cross-sectional study, demographic information includes age, sex, occupation, residence, educational level, marital status, nationality, history of the prison, addiction and sex were gathered. Charts and Figures of drowned.
119 patient’s HIV/ AIDS was determined, 60 (%50/4) had HIV-TB co-infection, % 85 male and %15 female, Iranian. % 90 urban, %10 rural areas. %3.3 under 20 years, % 35 were 21-30 years, % 28/3 were 31-40 years, %30 were 41-50 years and %3.3 over 50 years of age. % 81 were married and %18.3 were single. %31.7 unemployed, % 26.7 were workers, % 25 were freelance job and % 16.7 were free-retired (students, men, and housewives). %73/3 had a history of the prison. %60 were literate and 40% were illiterate, %38/3 had suspicious sex. %81/7 had a history of addiction, %100 had shared needles.
The majority of people infected with HIV-TB in Khorasan Razavi are men, young ،people aged 21-30 years and unemployed, prison, drug addicts and suspicious sex. Control and eradication of diseases such as AIDS and tuberculosis require national commitment and cooperation of various government and non-governmental institutions.
