Intrudoction: The aim of this study was to investigate the role of positive psychology interventions on emotion control and treatment of Internet addiction in high school students in Tehran.
Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test and follow-up with control group. The population of this study was the second-high school male students in the 5th district of Tehran in the academic year 1401-1400, from which 30 students were selected by purposive sampling method and randomly replaced in two equal groups of 15 people. For data collection, two questionnaires were used: Young Internet Addiction Questionnaire (2003) and Granfsky, Craig and Spinhon (2001) Emotion Control Questionnaire. SPSS software and multivariate analysis of covariance tests were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that positive psychology intervention improved emotion control and reduced Internet addiction in the post-test and follow-up stages.
Conclusion: Considering the positive results of research on the effectiveness of positivist psychology interventions, the use of positivist psychotherapy to improve emotion control is recommended.
