Intrudoction: The review of the research shows the existence of the problem of the location of health control and adherence to the treatment of type II diabetes patients. The aim of this study was the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the place of health control and adherence to treatment in people with type II diabetes.
Methods: This research was an applied and quasi-experimental research using pre-test, post-test, and follow-up design with an experimental group and a control group. The statistical population in this study is all people with a diagnosis of type II diabetes referred to Imam Hossein Clinic in Sari who according to the diagnosis of an endocrinologist have type II diabetes. From the mentioned community, during a public call (Imam Hossein Clinic located in Sari), people who were eligible to participate in the research were called; Individuals wishing to participate in the study were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the control and control groups. The equivalent of 15 people in each group was estimated. The research instruments included the Multistage Scale of the Wallston Health Control Center (1978) and the General Compliance Scale (GAS) of Madanlo et al Research data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance.
Findings: The results of data analysis showed that acceptance and commitment therapy is effective in improving internal and external control and adherence to treatment.
Conclusion: To improve mental and physical health in patients with diabetes, it is recommended to use acceptance and commitment therapy.
