Introduction: Considering that people with adaptability are creative, motivated, energetic and eager to learn, who have a special power called assimilation with the environment, so the purpose of this research is to predict the adaptability of students based on emotion regulation strategies, incompatible schemas. and perceived social support.
Methods: This research was applied and of descriptive survey type. The statistical sample consisted of 257 students of Master's degree in humanities of Shahrood Azad University, who were selected through convenience sampling. Data collection tools included Yang's (1999) 90-question maladaptive schemas questionnaire, Garnefski and Kraaij's (2006) cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, Zimet's (1988) 12-question social support questionnaire, and Dennis and Vander Wal (2010) standard cognitive flexibility questionnaire (CFI) were used. . Data analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics with regression analysis using SPSS version 25 software.
Results: The results showed that all three research variables, including emotion regulation strategies, incompatible schemas and perceived social support, predict students' adaptability. In total, these three components explain 68.6% of the variance of students' adaptability (P≤0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results of this research, it is expected that by teaching emotion regulation skills and promoting social support and examining incompatible schemas, coping with stress and life problems will become easier for students and their adaptability will improve.
