Introduction: A person's mood affects selective attention and false memory; But the answer to the question which type of mood (negative or positive) and in which emotional situation (negative or positive) creates the most false memory, requires more research. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of emotion induction on false memory with the role of schema mentality in patients with mood disorders.
Methods: The research method was carried out with a semi-experimental design. The statistical population included all men and women with major depressive disorder and bipolar I disorder (manic period) referred to psychiatric hospitals. 108 male and female participants with major depressive disorder and mania (diagnosed as psychotic based on DSM-5 diagnostic criteria) were selected from Razi Psychiatry Hospital through purposive sampling. The False Memory Questionnaire (DRM), mood induction method including positive, negative and neutral through movie screening and Young's Schematic Mentality Questionnaire (2008) were research tools. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and structural equations and path coefficients were used. The data of this research were analyzed using statistical software 29 pls3, SPSS.
Results: The results showed that Mood induction through the schema mentality has an indirect effect on false memory (P<0.001).
Conclusion: It can be concluded that the mindset of planners plays a mediating role in the relationship between mood induction and false memory.
