Introduction and purpose: Having students have social responsibility and social competence improves their sense of personal, social, and professional efficacy in the present and future. Accordingly the present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of moral intelligence skills training on social responsibility and social competence in students.
Methodology: The current study was a semi-experimental application with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study included undergraduate and graduate students of Shahrekord University in the academic year 2022-2023. 36 students were selected through voluntary sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental (18 students) and control groups (18 students). The experimental group received ten ninty minute sessions of positive psychology approach during one months. The applied questionnaires included Social Responsibility (SRQ) and Social Competence Questionnaire (SCQ). The data from the study were analyzed through mixed ANOVA method via SPSS23 software.
Finding: The results showed that moral intelligence skills training has significant effect on the signs of social responsibility (F=67.87; Eta=0.66; P<0.001) and social competence (F=62.84; Eta=0.65; P<0.001) of the students with the signs of violence.
Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that teaching moral intelligence skills using concepts such as respect, forgiveness, empathy, self-control, tolerance, honesty, and kindness can be an effective method to improve students' social responsibility and social competence.
